I have an '85 Westy with a persistent vibration in both the car body and the steering wheel that starts at about 45mph. It has been a problem for about a year and slowly getting worse. I wrote about it a few months ago after I installed Go Westy alloy wheels and the vibration did not go away. I got some good feedback from this list that if I was sure the wheels were balanced then I needed to look at the suspension. My mechanic says the wheel bearings, cv joints etc are all in good shape and referred me to a good tire shop. They found two of my new wheels out of balance and did a "forced balance", meaning moving the tire on the rim. That helped, but it is still there. One odd thing - it is worse when accelerating and decreases when I take my foot off the gas pedal. I am guessing I have bad motor mounts. Has anyone ever run into anything like this? BTW, I have four steel 14" rims if anyone wants to come and get them. Dave Boan dboan@bluecrab.org Easton, MD
