<P><BR>why are we worried about them rusting out?</P>
<P>i mean, we are all obviously made of money and could afford to drop $500-$600 every few years on new complete exhaust.&nbsp; Right?&nbsp; we drive vanagons, people!&nbsp; You either must be crazy or have a hella lot a money to do that.&nbsp; i say we all have money, starting now!</P></DIV>
<P>Sorry it is close to friday here and well, i started early!</P>

<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;George, my man....
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;They rust from the inside out too. Granted, that in super salty upstate NY
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;and surrounding areas they will probably rust faster from salt on the
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;exterior... you will not be able to really stop the intense oxidation that
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;occurs when you expose the interior of the steel muffler and pipes to such
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;hot temps, with water coming out as by-products of combustion.
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;maybe you could just dip everything in the peanut oil several times before
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;installing it... and between dips heat all the parts up to 500 degrees or
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;so.
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;Better yet, maybe you could genetically engineer a peanut, mixed with some
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;spider dna, to get a synthetic muffler material which is as strong as kevlar
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;or carbon fiber, but as natural as cotton. Then the exhaust system would
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;never rust, and you could sell em for like a grand each!
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;Tell me if you figure it out.

<DIV></DIV>&gt;
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; Tube recently had an exhaust system installed (before it broke anywhere,
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;of
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; course) and while coveting the stainless steel tailpipe I had fabricated,
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;he
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; expressed his dismay with how quickly the exhaust system starts to rust.
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;I
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; related my experience with various painted exhaust systems on bikes and
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;explained
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; the best thing I had found was to coat them with hydraulic oil. That
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;trick
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; came from a sprint car owner I knew and probably the only reason he used
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; hydraulic oil was because he had a bucket of it sitting around. The
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;exhaust pipes
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; have to be oiled as they cool, not when they are hot and it has to be
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt;applied
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; several times.
