1) I've had a front table in both the Westfalias I've ownd
2) Use it all the time
3) They can be stored behind the drivers seat unless you are tall and run
with the seat all the way back.
4) I don't store mine, leave it in place, no problems unless I forget to
tighten the knob that holds it in the mounting bracket.  NOTE: I never have
passengers in the rear.  If I did, on a regular basis, I'd probably store
the table for safety reasons.
