Got a question for you transmission experts.  Seems that the shift rod on the side of my 1984GL, 4 speed manual transmission has a worn spline interface to the ball part which goes into the shift linkage.  It is possible to replace this rod without rebuilding the transmission?  Does the gear shift housing just come off the end of the transmission?
