Scott, Thanks, I'll keep the pump in mind, but I think it was also replaced last year when the new engine was put in, along with the infamous fuel pump relay that often causes problems. I'll double check the PO's receipts on the pump. But either using the right gas or running a bottle of some injector cleaner through there has such a consistent and immediate impact that I don't think it is the pump. Know it could be though, because if pressure is low, then the van might be more sensitive to the fuel quality and its cleaning of the injectors. This could create a problem similar to dirty injectors. Hmmmm? When I "decommission" my 84 in a few weeks, maybe I'll swap the pumps as it has a relatively new pump and the engine / FI system runs problem free. Guess I could swap the injectors also. And the relay - actually have a new one sitting around. And I have to keep in mind that one of those new parts could be bad.
