O2 sensor, ground, or wire problem. If there is a ground wire at the
base of the breather tower, replace the crimp connector and relocate it
to a place with metal on both sides. The plastic tower makes a lousy
connection. I usually use one of the fuel pressure regulator mounting
screws.

Subject: syncro wierd idle

hey all,
hate to bore you all with this time honored question but....
today i finally gotmy 87 westy syncro project running. for the last
couple of months i have pulled EVERYTHING and replaced with new,
exhausts, coolant lines, disributor, all cvs, bearings, h20 pump, tranny
fluids, oil, filters, belts, plugs etc.... so now i got her running,
sounding real strong, good compression, ran new gas, techron fi cleaner,
but after about 10 minutes of idling she starts running harsh, shooting
a little black smoke, choking noises, not holding an idle, when reved
has a hard time catching up if at all, finally no idle and she dies. i
swapped out ecu, no change, i swapped out afm,. no change. what else?
timing good, mixture seems alright. she always starts and runs fine but
after a bit these symptoms occur.
confused
