You should be able to buy those high outputs bulbs at any decent FLAPS. The square headlight Vanagon's use standard 9004 bulbs and most FLAPS carry those in many different versions with the highest being 100W high beams and 80W lows. Shouldn't cost you more than $8 or $9 each. If they try to charge you more than that, send me an email and I'll sell them to you for $7 each... The relay upgrade is a really good idea, especially if you plan on putting high wattage bulbs in. Frank Condelli sells high output bulbs for later vans. I would suggest a relay upgrade as well: http://members.aol.com/Fkc43/hdltrela.htm Thanks, Chris ---- Original message ---- >Date: Mon, 22 Dec 2003 23:04:16 -0500 >From: MICHAEL POPE <raskayamon@MSN.COM> >Subject: Square Headlight Uprgade ? >To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM > >Hey Volks, >Sorry for jumping on this one a little late but what is the most reasonably priced headlight upgrade while keeping the square grill? Are there any direct replacements that are same size but brighter?(I like the square look better than the round). I didn,t think they were that bad until I drove my wife's Subaru the other nite --wow what a difference. Thanks for all the help. > >BTW- Nokians are really doing great have gotten me to work every day so far( only 2wd vehicle to make it up a few days)- drove the Subi the past couple of days 1 1/2 ft of snow on Fri will try the Westy tom. > >Michael >89 Westy-Rosebud
