As strange as this sounds (and looks) I met a guy in San Diego last
summer that had cut the body off a Syncro and mounted a VW Thing body on
the chassis.  He had a TDI engine off to the side that was destined to
go into it.  I think the suspension would be *very* stiff with the
reduced weight of the vehicle.
