I haven't mounted an antenna on my '82 yet, but on my '75 bus I had good luck using a rain gutter mount to mount a 5/8-wave 2-meter amateur band antenna. A rain gutter mount will damage the paint, though, if that matters to you. (It has to -- piercing the paint is the only way to get a good ground. In fact, for best performance you should take it off once a year or so and clean any corrosion out of the little nick it's made in the paint.) I put the mount just behind the driver's door and ran the cable through a small slit in the pop-top canvas. This location made it quick and easy to unscrew the antenna and pull it inside when I needed to go into parking garages. David Brodbeck, N8SRE '82 Volkswagen Diesel Westfalia '86 Volvo 240DL wagon
