Just recently developed new problem on 87 westy:

Have new air flow meter
Have been running with o2 sensor disconected

The van is acting as if it had a bad o2 sensor- bucking, rough running,
etc.  Problem occurs after van has been running a short time and does
not happen all the time.  It also seems the temp gage stops at 1/4 when
the problem is happening; it typically reaches 1/2 way under normal
conditions.  Could there be a connection between the two?
