Hey Gang, here is my sad story, Yes I know it's Fryeday but it's a sobby Fryeday for me... Background: '85 Wolfsburg Weekender (New England Winter) My van was parked for two weeks while I was away. Prior to leaving I filled the tank and placed a bottle of gas stabilizer (MMO)concerned about any water in the fuel. When I came back and took the van for its first run I heard the fuel pump whine however the van ran fine. I thought "Oh here goes the pump" and went ahead and ordered one since I'd heard a whining pump meant a soon to die pump. The next day it happened, the van idled fine, but when I stepped on the gas it would loose all power and sputtered. I changed the filter while waiting for the new pump and the next day things worked well, I drove 75 to 100 miles without a hitch. Today I cranked her up and again the old pump began to whine again and same thing, sputtering, no power and stalling. I just finished changing the pump and NO CHANGE! the new pump is whining as well! I know what you are about to say (Corroded Fuel Tank) It seems though as the situation happens when it gets pretty cold, above 30F things seem to work better, Anything else I should check before opening my wallet for a new tank? I assume that up to the point where gas reaches the pump everything is pretty simple, gas is drawn by gravity, thru the filter and then pressurized at the pump. Any additional brainstorming welcomed. Peace! Jorge '85 Worlfsburg Weekender Betsy a.k.a "Plan B"
