Subject:Flashing Temperature LED

Something weird happened this morning on the way to work. I was on the freeway (California), looked down and saw that temperature led flashing. Started to slow down and and the LED stopped flashing. A little while later (when the speed was up to 65mph) the LED did it again. No high temperature was indicated. Checked the expansion tank and sensor and it was fine. Checked the temperature sensor and the connection and sensor seemed fine.

From what I remember (I don't have the schematic of my 84GL in front of me), the LED will only flash if there is an overtemp condition, the coolent level sensor triggers it (usually causing the meter to go to high temp position) or there is a power interruption (power on restarts). I don't see anything else that could cause the flashing. Has anyone else ever had this happen before?

William
