I agree that the Vanagon has some impact advantages depending on what you
hit or what hit's you.

I totaled a Pontiac Grand AM in a freeway pile-up in my 82 Westy and drove
away from it.

But I have some convincing visual evidence that proves that the front end of
a Vanagon can indeed be crushed .

I don't think the driver survived.
