Don't kid yourself, Jake Raby is going full bore with all types of Type IV projects. http://www.aircooledtechnology.com/Home_Page.htm Stan Wilder -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com]On Behalf Of S.Harrison Sent: Tuesday, February 24, 2004 8:13 PM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Those of you saving your pennies for a Jake Raby aircooled motor take note .. Saw this on a VW message board, and while I would have liked to spend many thousands of dollars on a 2.0l Type IV motor, it looks like that check won't be made out to Jake Raby for his much-lauded engines. AVP and Boston Bob ... the pickings get slimmer. To put this in context, it was in answer to a thread asking why Vanagons are so underpowered. Here ya go, don't shoot the messenger: "Posted: Wed Feb 18, 2004 10:24 pm ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- The engineers were high. worst TIV ever made. Worst gearing ever made. They are way too heavy for a stock 2.0 aircooled engine. I finally got to the point where we don't do them anymore.. Too much liability _________________ Jake Raby Raby's Aircooled Technology
