patient: 86 syncro with 300,000 miles. A new noise developed for me this morning. This was after 15 miles of driving. I have a 7 mile hill to climb (3rd gear, sometimes 2nd if i don't get a good running-start). About 1/2 way up the hill i start to hear a high-speed clicking. Hmmm. I put in the clutch and it goes away. I try to accelerate and it just gets more pronounced. When i let up on the gas it goes away. Speed during this was between 40-55 mph. Noise is there when in 3rd and 4th gear. I stopped the first chance i got and yanked at the front axles, diff, driveshaft, universal joints, and everythingk i could get to. NOTHING moves at all. Everything was very solid. After getting back on the road the sound was gone for the first 5 minutes and then re-appeared. Any ideas? The bus has about 300K miles on it. New front bearings and one new side of cv's. Could this be a diff-bearing or maybe a CV? I'll pull the driveshaft this weekend, but want to start thinking about this now. thanks matthew 86 syncro ===== Matthew Pollard "Racing with the wind and flirting with death Dept.
