First I would like to thank everybody for there information it 
has been of great help. I am not chopping up my westy as a 
few are thinking but doing a complete overhaul of it. I am 
doing a subie conversion and that is why I was looking for
 wreckers in detroit as I am closer to detroit than any other 
city. I have two auto transmissions and one works ok but 
has trouble shifting into high gear until it warms up then 
never a problem. The other one is kaput. I am wondering 
what used trannies would fit my van. It is an 85 vanagon gl 
westfalia with a 1.9l in it. Are only 83.5 to 85 compatible.
 Any body have one for sale near London Ontario within 
300miles? Thank-you
