Some of you might remember that I had my '89 Carat Weekender that I had since
new, stolen from in front of my house a little over a year ago (day after
christmas).   I live in S. Cal near Glendale.
Anyway I've been looking for a replacement since then.  Looked at a few but they
were all pretty much trashed - especially the interiors.  Finally found a 1990
Carat Weekender with 60,000 mi on a replacement engine that I bought for $2300.
Not as nice as my old one, but has a decent interior. The exterior has a few
rusty spots (previous owner lived near the beach) and minor dents.  Also it's
automatic where I had a manual before.  It passed smog test easily last weekaqnd
seems to run well.  Today I put new drums/rotors/shoes/pads and flushed the
brake fluid which were really needed.  Now just have to get the AC going again
and  I'm back in business.  Feels good to have a Vanagon again.
