Better Idea - just make a huge paper mache or fiberglass egg too encase your Vanagon. That will pretty much take care of the drag and the co-efficients. No, you won't win the world's largest egg contest but at best you will be the world's fastest egg. At worst , if you crack-up you will make the world's largest omelet. By controlling the inflation pressure, at a constant velocity, while optimizing manifold vacuum, one should be able to reduce drag by 20% or more. If you then fixed the shape and made a mold, one could market a baggage extension which also reduce drag. Does require moving outside the original vehicle envelope! >> A box with half an egg attached... hmmm... Why not just buy a Toyota Previa install the body over a Vanagon drivetrain? Better yet, dirve it as it is. But then many of us own Vanagons because we like the way the look more so than the way they run. BenT O.
