Lol, too true. Apparently at one time GEX did a pretty good job at rebuilding engines (according to my trusty mechanic), but then the owner got greedy and started putting out junk. I can testify to this later point. I bought a rebuilt GEX a few years ago 'cause I was poor and they were cheaper than the rest and I have had nothing but problems with it. Now I'm looking at rebuilding it with less than 6k miles put on it >( FWIW Ryan '82 Westie -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of Aristotle Sagan Sent: Monday, March 29, 2004 3:18 PM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Re: GEX engine By reputation, you are either running on borrowed time or you have aquired the only example of a decent GEX engine known to mankind. tim in san jose >From: Jean-Pierre Le Cruguel <jlecruguel@AEI.CA> >Reply-To: Jean-Pierre Le Cruguel <jlecruguel@AEI.CA> >To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM >Subject: GEX engine >Date: Mon, 29 Mar 2004 17:07:24 -0500 > >Hi all, > >I am enquiring about a westy with a GEX rebuilt engine in it, at a very >very good price. >I found the company website.
