YES you can run 16"s with a carat.   they just put cautions on their site
because they are afraid of lawsuits. everyone has to make disclaimers in these
sue-happy times of ours..    when you use 16"s w/ a carat, you just have to run
lower profile tires.   which the
"goody-goody-naysayers-my-vanagon-has-to-have-stock-factory-reccomended-michelin-MX-sidewall-reincorced-bla-bla-and-they-don
t-make-them-anymore"  types, dont like.   check out some german vanagon
websites..  there are many vangons with 16" ...17" porsche wheels, etc  yes it can
be done.  we americans are just too afraid of getting sued to try to be
different..
