Thanks to all the replied.  I am going to start with the spray down of the
radiator, to get the bugs out.  Then on to a flush and fill.  It looks like
someone has been there before me, as there is a Prestone "t" connector in a
hose under the van.

Should I use this or follow the Bentley?

Then, on to the cap/and sensor.  I have a great local shop that specializes
in vw parts.

I'll ride it out for a couple of week to see if it makes a difference.  If
so great :-), if not :-(, then a new radiator it is!!
