Subject:Radio pops when powered up?

I installed a 1996 Passat tape deck in my Vanagon and it works great.  The
only problem is that when I turn it on it makes a loud "pop" sound.

Initially, I thought my voltage sources could be swapped but they aren't.
Any suggestions?  -John
