FWIW, shortly after we picked up our '85 Vanagon (two weeks ago today) we
noticed that our rear seat pulled out from the front, the back laid down
(toward the back).  I don't know if that's a "weekender seat" but it looks
like it could be a fairly comfortable bed sort of thing.  I found out
yesterday that the seat back also folds down forward (so it lays on top of
the rear seat).  Maybe yours will do both too.
