If I dont remember things wrong you have a plastic joint to all the hoses going up front screwed to the engine compartement wall on that side! Worth jacking the Vgon up and check for cracks in the plastic and/or rubber hoses and fasteners

  Subject: help:coolant leak puzzle????

My 89 syncro has a small puddle of coolant in the middle/front of right rear wheel. It's not the heads, I presume. Comes down near the tranny. Coolant is dripping slowly only when parked on my sloped driveway. Any ideas??? Rear heater?? We had a new water pump and rear heater valve installed as preventive maintenance. After off-roading in Moab I noticed a lower coolant level. Let me know what you think before I take the van into the shop.

  Thanks.
