Sam, I don't have many answers to your questions, but am very interested in the thread. Here's what thoughts I have:

Why the interest in using a diesel tranny? At highway speeds that 4spd will be spinning like crazy - screaming. From what I've read the stock tranny you have right now will possibly work just better.

> **Input shaft length:
I've been under the impression that the input shaft for the diesel is the correct length. The gas shaft can be shortened if needed.
