Using a vacuum assumes the material is so degraded it will crumble. The
material in my van is not crumbling but should be removed and cleaned, or
replaced. I am reluctant to begin tearing it out unless I am sure no
alternative is available. I don't want to be left with a filtering unit
that is torn but cannot be fully removed.
