Where the pedal attaches to the cable end may be worn away. I had that problem once, replaced the pedal with one from a junker. Bunch of work getting the pedal cluster out!!!! Kind of scary, the pedal metal was almost worn through, and the clutch would have been stuck in the engaged postion. Not a good thing while folks are crossing in front of the van, and I've got it in gear while stopped! That reminds me, I should shoot some spray grease up there in my latest beast. What is the list's fav brand of spray grease (not oil)? thanks, Ron A -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of Jean-Woo Kim Sent: Wednesday, May 12, 2004 1:35 PM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Clutch pedal stuck Yesterday, the clutch pedal on my 87 GL Wolfsburg got stuck half way up. I could still depress it and change gears, but there was slippage at the clutch. When I forced it back up by hand, it wouldn't give at first and then it came up to the full height after what felt like metal scraping against metal. It happened a few times more since then. Now the pedal travels the full length as before, but I can feel slight drag/scrape half-way of its travel. Has anyone had this happen? I consulted the Bentley manual and visually checked the system but found no obvious defect. Thanks.
