Merriam Webster:

Bling:  Lower American English, circa 1990-ish, originating from the urban
culture.  Meaning "that which shines" or "that which gives an impression
of unreasonable wealth".  Also, "anything that glitters", especially teeth
or rings.  Frequently used as mating season accessory to attract females
and often causing a common-sense subduing effect.  Often used to describe
