So how many on this list have Air Cooled Vanagons engines with over 200K
on them? I have a number of customers who have done it with the
WaterBoxer. The FUN BUS is now at 216K. I did have to replace the valve
covers when they rusted through. It still can go on long trips such as
New York to Florida and back last February.

Eric.
Historically Air Cooled engines last longer than WBX engines.
It just depends on the loose nut behind the wheel that establishes how
long
the AC or WBX will last.

Air cooled motors simply do not last very long. Heat just burns them up.
These engines are expensive to rebuild unlike the old bug. Air cooled
engines do not produce very good heat, Just like the old bugs. These
AC Vanagons do not have the HP as the 2.1L engine do, therefore they
tend to get beat. If nothing else make sure the einge is good.
