Anyone know if it is possible to buy a new steering
rack? If not who has the best name in rebuilts?

I don't think there are new ones but a call to any VW dealer should clear
that up fast. I have good quality rebuilts listed on my _Vanagon Items
Forsale_ (http://members.aol.com/Fkc43/sales.htm) webpage.
