Well thanks to the vanagon.com archives. This 89 had a butchered wiring going to the hall sensor on the dist. The PO had used those trailer light splice wire fittings and some ill fitted wiring. It was taped up so well I did not think it was an issue till I cut the tape away and good grief. Found some good color coded wiring from my trips to the scrap yards and carefully soldered and shrink tubed it up real nice. Took her for a spin and SHE RIPPS~ Thanks to those who posted to the archives about the hall sensor being an issue for surging and hesitating. You folks rock! Nice to have the 89 blue wolfy on the road again. Compared to my syncro with 15s this thing is a rocket! It has hesitation and stumbles from a standing start. Once it gets going its got good power. I thought it was bad gas but I have run a tank through it now. It will surge while going along in 2nd gear pretty bad at times. What is going on? Please help, Thanks, Doug,
