It has "skate" wheels because that was the way it was designed to work best. I used to use oversize tires (LT8.50X27) on my Westy, but really didn't like the way it handled. Much better now that I've gone back to stock sized tires. Karl Wolz -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of Tom L. What is the largest tire the stock spare tire carrier can handle without hassle? I read in the archives that 27" wheels can be crammed in. Not what I am looking for. I have 195/14s on my '87 Westy syncro and I am tired of answering the question of why my rig has skate wheels on it. Thanks Tom Salicos
