I remember grappling with this - the stop is designed to prevent rain from dripping inside at speed. The old beetles had a piece of sheet metal at the inside front lower edge, and that caught moisture and held it until you closed the wind wing, and then it would drip on you. I think it can be fixed to open all the way, mine do, but it was around 1991 - and memory flails me now..... an inspection of the parts will reveal how to make it right. Only to find out that it has a STOP that will not allow it to swing past 90 degrees to the door. What lawyers or sue happy plaintiffs can I blame for this !? Is it to protect me from my own judgement that I know enough to reel it in when driving through a swarm of locusts? or that I can no longer take the gamble between the rush of fresh cool air when its cranked all the way around to catch everything including the occasional yellow jacket who may get scooped and end up hitting me in the chest? only to sting the blazes out of me when it wakes up from the impact? I like the wind in my mug and the thrill of knowing I am living on the edge, what can I say! > > What gives with that? I feel like a kid with mom and dad controlling my power window in the back seat or locking my door so I cant get out till they say I can. > > Please, somebody rescue me from those who know better for me !!!!!! > > > Doug
