One of the reasons Florida doesn't have as high a problem rate in these
areas is that a CCW license is simple to obtain.  If you were a
"questionable character", would you harass some little old lady without
knowing whether or not she was carrying personal defense?  An armed society
is a polite society some have said.  However it is always one's own choice
in the matter.  You may want to note that California's finest sport both a
short barreled shotgun AND an "assault rifle" in their pursuit cars these
days.  Makes one think a bit.

Most 911 responses are crime scene tapers it seems.  Too much crime for the
Law Enforcement Officers to get there in time to do any good. Your personal
protection in or out of your Vanagon is your responsibility.  The best
response is hasty flight.

The NM incident is more than likely does not involve a licensed CCW citizen,
but we shall see, I suppose.
