Subject:Re: Friday Wal Mart standoff - real risks

Life is risk, but there are those who put their lives on the line daily
for the rest of us, to ensure we are all secure, safe. They are the men
and women who serve in our local police and fire departments.

Thursday, near her in Birmingham, AL, three police officers were gunned
down with AK 47's by a couple of 20-somethings trying to get away after
being busted working a meth lab. They were caught, and now will
eventually face the death penalty in Alabama. How sad. These two are
sons of two mothers somehwere. But more sad, now dead are the fathers
and husbands of 3 police families.

Drug users in order to feed their habits move into crime to satisfy
their need, so labs thrive, sucking in illicit money gained by those who
become criminals to feed their habits. Once it starts it's like a
destructive fungus, and simply spreads it's filaments throughout
communities and eventually poisons and destroys those communities, annd
many people along the way.

Because the use of drugs is so widespread, it's impact is widespread,
and so, we have fewer and fewer public places that are safe anymore for
camping in our vans.
