I recently upgraded my spare tire to match the standard alloys in my '88
Westy.  After ditching the old steel wheel I found that the alloy combo
would not allow the carrier to engage with the catch.  The tire is hits
against the various hoses and stuff up there.
I checked the archives but could not find any references.
Someone I spoke to suggested a spacer for the bolt and do away with the
catch, but the catch seems like nice insurance

Should the tire/rim fit, or...?
