I asked about the engine conversion and got some good replies from members. One mentioned the great torque from the TDI...and a search on ebay shows this gem at a great price with parts to fit a van... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=79070 86173&category=33615 shawn feller www.carboncow.com ---------------------------------------------------- This mailbox protected from junk email by Matador from MailFrontier, Inc. http://info.mailfrontier.com -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of shawn feller Sent: Thursday, June 24, 2004 10:23 PM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: engine conversion question... I'm not considering a conversion but have been reading many kits and options. Everyone talks about how much torque is in the slow 1.9L and 2.1L Vw engines and there are many reasons to want a better (bigger) engine. How can a VW jetta 2.0 engine be a solution? Our 2000 Vw jetta engine is a high revving noisy powerless solution. There is no low end torque and it doesn't even boogie until you get over 3000rpm. Are the conversion engines geared, camed, injected and managed different to the Vanagon's needs?
