Maybe this too silly a question - but I bought my '85 Westy and the air
conditioning doesn't work. Is there and easy way to tell if it has just
been disabled or if it is actually broken? the belts are hooked up.

From what I gather to get it to work I might need to convert is anyway
which sounds very expensive!

I want to drive from Seattle to Salt Lake in August - might just need to
do it at night!

Would also like to collect some references for mechanics out that way..
