Regarding your Alaska plans, I'd say you'd want at least 6-12 months on
the conversion first before you head out to Alaska. In otherwords, take
the extra time AFTER the conversion to make sure all the bugs have been
worked out and you have

1) reliable transport
2) a handle on routine maintenance of the conversion.
