This isn't going to help anyone with beautifying their hubcaps but... Am I alone in generally disliking hubcaps - period? I'd love to have alloys, but they're pricey and really don't stand up to much abuse. As soon as I have time, my hum-drum Vanagon hubcaps are coming off - and the stock 14" steel wheels will be sandblasted for that "bare" steel look that was common in the 80's with bare-bones Golfs, Jettas etc. (just like those after-market 15" and 16" steel wheels you can purchase online). I'll get some hub and bolt covers - and be done with it. I will store the hubcaps somewhere though - they are/will be worth their weight in gold... Leo, I have done this years ago, just be sure to ruff them up real good get all the rust off and use a good paint, let them cure a few days befor trying to put them on so as not to mess up the paint.
