Eric, I have a pair of MB Quart 6.5" installed under the bench seat with good result. http://gipsyflies.home.comcast.net/speaker.htm The improvement I would like to make is to add sound (damping) deadening material to the back side of the woofers. This will lesens the substrative cancellation between the two sides of the drivers. To be safe will requires flame retardant material for the passenger side one due to it's proximity to the furnace (combustion) exhaust port (though it is already double-wall construction). As it stand the bass is very good. Here is the link for the entire audio system configuration. http://gipsyflies.home.comcast.net/sound.htm Hope you find this an useful reference. - Vince http://gipsyflies.home.comcast.net 1989 Vanagon GL Camper 1993 Mazda Miata 1996 Land Rover Discovery 2005 Mini Cooper S (almost here) -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of Eric Spletzer Sent: Tuesday, August 24, 2004 12:05 PM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Stereo/Subwoofer Installation Hey all - I've got a good alpine system installed in my van, but 4 4" speakers are just not cutting it for me. Is there a tried and true method for adding a subwoofer, amp, etc? I've pillaged 2 150 Watt amps and a couple 4" pioneers from my buddy's beamer. Will these amps suffice if I pick up a subwoofer? I'm not looking to blow the doors off, just to hear the bass. I'm thinking to put the subwoofer in the cabinet under the seat? Thanks for any advice/pictures/horror stories about previous setups. -eric ------------- '85 GL Camper (Moby) San Francisco, CA
