Subject:Re: Interior lighting for the vanagon LED and CCF

Doug,

The ccf light from Fry's is really a good deal. Can you please take
picture of the inverter? Do you a mean of measuring the current it
consume on the 12V side? My experience of some automotive fluorescent
light claims to be energy efficient while in fact performs worst than
incandescent light due to poor ballast.

I have the Artimede eLight which is also CCF. It has two CCF tubes about
10" long and they rate it 6W.

If this performs well I will consider putting it inside the Westy galley
light fixture.

Tim,
Perhaps in the early 90s that may be true.

Just bought a set of two 12 inch CCFLs today complete with the inverter
for 14.95 You can buy them online for $9.99 (see my link below)

Tested them in the garage this evening, very nice white light as nice in
fact brighter than standard dc flourescents.

Very low draw. claims 5 milliamps. I believe these are the best light
technology for the lowest draw on the battery you can buy anywhere
today.
