RE smell of burning plastic with fan on full...
I melted the fan switch going over the Grapevine in an '85, cooling
problems and was running both heaters wide open and the fans on full
blast for extra engine cooling.  Got to the top and the fan switch
wouldn't move, had to disconnect the wires to turn it off.
