If the noise is definitely from the compressor your option is to buy a rebuild or new unit. It cost about $250 to $300. Since you can hear noise something inside is already very worn. Lubing it will not help as most moving part is already submerged in lubricant. - Vince http://gipsyflies.home.comcast.net 1989 Vanagon GL Camper 1993 Mazda Miata (for sale) 1996 Land Rover Discovery 2005 Mini Cooper S -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of Steve Shane Sent: Monday, August 30, 2004 10:42 PM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: AC Compressor Question Greetings all, My AC compressor on my 87 Westy is starting to sound loud, much like an un-lubed bearing... What are my options? Can I lube it? or am I screwed? - Thanks, as always. Steve _________________________________________________________________ Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger!
