Peter, That was my thought exactly when I looked at the ad. I no wonder the lifter ticks. You drive it 80 mph all day. I seldom go above 63 or strain it going up hill on mine and after 63k it still runs like it was just broken in. - Vince http://gipsyflies.home.comcast.net 1989 Vanagon GL Camper 1993 Mazda Miata (for sale) 1996 Land Rover Discovery 2005 Mini Cooper S -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of The Shaws Sent: Tuesday, August 31, 2004 11:48 AM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Re: Double cab for sale Add states: "Top VW techs say either lifter or wrist pin. it has 130 comp. on each cylinder and it will do 80 all day long so I dont worry about it." After reading the vanagon thread on the worst design flaws of the German engineers perhaps the one big one overlooked was that they failed to understand the American driver........ Anyone out there run a solid 2.1 wbx at 80 all day long? Let along one with potential problems. or maybe it's just me, but my solid 2.1 likes to run about 65 "all day long" peter ----- Original Message ----- From: "Eric Zeno" <vw4x4@FYI.NET> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Tuesday, August 31, 2004 4:57 AM Subject: Double cab for sale > I saw this in person at the central VW show in OH. > Any one own it on the list? > > http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=101665 > > > Eric >
