Inexpensive fix...long screwdriver JBWelded in hole! No biggie if you got another used stick.Remove metal box above spare wheel to access shifter connection and disconnect from shaft. Good time to clean/lube sliding parts inside box and add "short shift" spacer. Stick fork end should have plastic parts in good shape Cleaning and lubing all bushings makes shifting much more smooth Leon 85 Subwagen On Sun, 29 Aug 2004 20:58:52 EDT, Andy Morse <AudibleA@AOL.COM> wrote: > It's always something with a VW, I went to shift my 86 syncro and off > came > the shift lever, cheap metal broke near the bottom, shoved a screw > driver in the > hole and searched for first gear to get it home, luckily close to home! > > What's a good inexpensive fix for this?
