Seems like I saw a picture of one with the bench almost up to the
driver's seat.  I guess that they put the "front" rail of a middle seat
which was turned around backwards into the frontmost guide on the floor
and had the "back" rail of the middle seat just sitting on the floor.

I am not sure that I would do this, but it is an option.  It might also
be possible to add bolt holes and put the rails in a location that
allowed different placement of the rails and some leg room.
