Sam, Your point well taken. I was sloppy to say the standard Vanagon config and I knew there are significant changes over the decade or so of Vanagon evolution. My Digifant has a filter downstream of the fuel pump and same with many other fuel injection vehicles. - Vince http://gipsyflies.home.comcast.net 1989 Vanagon GL Camper 1993 Mazda Miata (for sale) 1996 Land Rover Discovery 2005 Mini Cooper S -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of Sam Walters Sent: Wednesday, September 08, 2004 1:43 PM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Re: tech asst in WI or MI, fuel filter location Vince, It isn't that simple and there isn't a "Vanagon's standard configuration." For gas engines, the filter is before the pump, as per Bentley for: AC, p 20.2 - 20.3 and 20.4 Digijet, 20.16 - 20.17 and 20.18, both the small plastic cube like filter, but there are two filters shown for the Digifant, the standard small plastic one before the pump and the larger canister type after it: Bentley, 20.26-20.27, except that the Syncro only is shown with one, the canister type after the pump, 20.34. OK, equal time, the filter, very different, is before the pump in a diesel, 20,10.
