Barrett, The reverse switch is located on the transaxle. The Bentley shows it in the section on the transaxle. Some have reported success with cleaning it and reinstalling it, but that didn't work for me. I replaced mine, but the replacement switch (new) was bad - on all the time. The second replacement worked. I suggest getting a new one and testing BEFORE you put it in, to avoid doing the job more than once!! Replaced all bulbs and checked all fuses and still no luck. I've heard of a reverse switch that is actuated by the shifter but can't seem to find in Bentley much reference to checking or just plain replacing this switch. Anyone else had similar experience? Am I jumping the gun by replacing the switch? Thanks Barrett '88 GL Wolfsburg '87 A2 GTI 8V
