Thanks to all for help in finding the probable (or most likely) cause of my '90 Carat a/c system failure. I found the "fusible link" under the right rear D - pillar panel. It was melted and corroded. I will begin the process of tracing this to see if there is a further problem with the ground points or connections.

Is this a part that I can find at my FLAPS, or someone mentioned finding one at a Salvage yard (are they that hard to come by?!)
